Product Design

I love designing products. I love the problem solving that goes with it, the initiation of a new concept and developing it. I love creating something from nothing.

My experience covers all sorts of different products and market sectors including; toys, gift, consumer electronics and enclosures, industrial products, homewares and promotional items.

I have been responsible for producing solutions for single products, through to developing entire product ranges, either under licence or as OEM products.

Brands

Over the years I have gained extensive experience of working on a multitude of brands and licences, from long established, global names like Michelin, to start-ups like Bloom Homewares.

In addition to designing branded product, I have also created new brands within a variety of market sectors. This has included initiating new brand names and creating logos, developing packaging and, of course, a product or range identity.

Packaging Design

Packaging design has very much become one of my supporting role skills as customers I have designed product for have often asked for their new product to be, well....packaged.

As well as conceptulising original designs and graphics, I have also gained extensive experience of working from licenced property styleguides, from Disney's Princesses and Cars, to Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Modelmaking

Over the years I have developed a high level of modelmaking skills which I use regularly as part of the design process. My knowledge allows me to choose the right materials for a particular application to best represent the final product, or to ensure that a model performs the tasks asked of it.

I have worked on projects for some very exacting customers such as Aston Martin and Bentley Motors, creating interior components for show cars, and also on more fun projects, like toys for Brainstorm Ltd and Hasbro.

Manufacturing

I also have experience of sourcing appropriate suppliers for manufacturing and liaising with them throughout the product development and manufacturing process. This includes visiting facories to see first hand how they operate and to build positive relationships.
